The University of Minnesota Duluth won their first game of the new year against Bemidji State University 62-41, giving them their 10th straight win and keeping them unbeaten at home. The Bulldogs improve to 10-3 overall while going 7-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers fall to 6-5 overall while carrying a 3-4 NSIC record.
 
The Bulldogs started the game off slow on offense, not scoring until 6:16 of the first quarter. However, UMD did find some success after their scoring drought, ending the first quarter with a 14-10 lead. The Bulldogs came out of the break picking up right where they left off. They scored 14 points in the second quarter and relied on their defense to make plays, only allowing five points and recording three blocks.
UMD went into halftime with a 28-15 lead.
The Bulldogs closed out the game in the second half with good offense and aggressive defense play. They forced six turnovers, blocked five shots and added three more steals in the second half.
Sophomore forward Brooke Olson led the team in scoring with 15 points and also added six rebounds and two steals. Junior forward Sarah Grow finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, and seven blocks. Senior forward Katie Stark finished with eight points, two rebounds and a steal and freshman guard Taytum Rhoades finished with eight points, three assists and a steal.
Overall, UMD shot 40.6% (26-64) FG, 36.8% (7-19) on 3-pointers and recorded 36 rebounds.The Bulldogs will play another home game tomorrow night against the Univeristy of Minnesota Crookston 3:30 PM.
