The University of Minnesota Duluth Men's basketball's senior forward
Brandon Myer was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Northern Division Player of the Week on Monday morning. This is Myer's third Player of the Week nomination straight, his fifth on the season and the Bulldogs seventh Player of the Week.
Myer had a stellar weekend for UMD as the team split the final regular season conference weekend with the University of Minnesota Crookston (W, 90-84 (OT)) and Bemidji State University (L, 83-76). Myer averaged a double-double on the weekend with 42.0 points per night and 15.0 rebounds. Against UMC, a game where the Bulldogs came back from being down by 22, Myer scored 44 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. When it came to BSU, Myer followed up with 40 points and 17 rebounds. He would shoot 65.2% (30-46) from the floor while hitting 47.1% (8-17) from beyond the arc and was 88.9% (16-18) from the charity stripe. He also added three assists and three steals as he averaged 39.5 minutes a night.
Myer became UMD's all-time leading scorer on Saturday evening against the Beavers. He currently has 1,967 points in his career. He leads UMD in scoring average all-time with 19.3 points over the span of his career and is the all-time leader in free throws made with 488. He sits in 4th in rebounds with 841 behind Jason Schneeweis who finished with 879.
The Bulldogs will open the NSIC playoffs on Wednesday night, playing host to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears at 7:30 in Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, Minn.
