The University of Minnesota Duluth head coach Justin Wieck has announced the signing of the sixth member of the 2020 recruiting class. Lincoln Meister (Rochester, Minn) has signed to join the Bulldogs this coming fall.
Meister is a 6-foot-9 forward from Rochester, Minn. He is listed as the No. 31 ranked prospect in the Minnesota 2020 class by Prep Hoops Minnesota. Meister played at Rochester John Marshall High School. He averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a junior. During his senior season, Meister averaged 22.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He also earned All Big 9 conference awards during both his junior and senior season. Meister also excelled in the classroom, as he was awarded the John Marshall High School excellence in Science and Mathematics award. He is the son of Kurt and Angie Meister, both of whom were standout basketball players at South Dakota State. Lincoln plans to attend the Swenson College of Science and major in Physics at UMD.
"We're beyond excited to have Lincoln join the Bulldog family," said Wieck. "Lincoln brings immediate size & skill to our program. As he continues to grow and mature, the sky is the limit for him. He comes from a big-time basketball family and will continue to improve. Lincoln has shined in the classroom as well".
"I love the city of Duluth, the atmosphere on campus and the coaches there are great," said Meister. "The coaches have been with me from the start, they offered me back in August and had that belief in me when nobody else did. I can't wait to get started."
Lincoln becomes the sixth member of the 2020 recruiting class, joining previously signed Austin Andrews (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Charlie Katona (Shakopee, Minn.), Zach Lea (Chaska, Minn.), John Sutherland (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Peter Soumis (Hermantown, Minn.) All six players are from the state of Minnesota.
The Bulldogs are coming off one of the most successful years in UMD history. The Bulldogs finished with a 22-9 record, most wins in the program since 1997. As the 2020 season begins in the fall, Wieck enters his 3rd season on the sidelines for the Bulldogs.
