Brandon Myer of the University of Minnesota Duluth men's basketball program had a stellar final season for the Bulldogs and was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Central All-Region First Team.
Myer was a force for the Bulldogs all season long in his final go around for the program. He started all 31 games in his senior campaign and would lead the team in scoring average with 23.7 points per game( second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, 13th in DII), rebounding average with 9.7 per game (third in the NSIC, 21st in DII), field goal percentage with 52.8% (246-466) (fifth in NSIC, 89th in DII), steals with 52 (second in NSIC, 75th in DII), blocks with 30 and minutes per night with 33.9. He was also second on the team in assists with 76. Myer would take over as UMD's all-time leading scorer in the final regular season game against the Bemidji State University Beavers, and finished his career with 2,045, the only Bulldog that has eclipsed 2,000. He would finish his season with six of his final seven games scoring 30+ points, and three of those performances being 40+ points. He set a career high for himself in a game against Minnesota State University Moorhead with 45 points, as well as finish with 15 double-doubles on the year, ranked second in the NSIC and 11th overall in DII. He is the all-time leader scoring average over a career with a 19.5 average per game, as well as in free throw makes as well as attempts (508/618). He is the leader in field goal attempts with 1,421 and finished in fourth in field goals made with 695. He finished in fourth in the rebound's category with 874, where Jason Schneeweis finished with 879.
Myer was named as the NSIC Player of the Week five times as well as NSIC Player of the Year. Myer was tabbed as first NSIC player to be named as the United States Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week. He was the first player since Schneeweis to be named from UMD as NSIC Player of the Year back in 2002-03.
The Bulldogs had their season come to an end in the NSIC Tournament in a loss in the Semifinals to the Minnesota State University Mavericks.
