University of Minnesota Duluth head volleyball coach,
Jim Boos, has been appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball National Committee.
"I am honored and excited to be back on the NCAA Women's Volleyball National Committee after an eight-year hiatus," said UMD volleyball head coach
Jim Boos. "Certainly there are new and exciting challenges ahead and I look forward to collaborating with this committee as we work to grow the game of women's volleyball."
Boos will begin his tenure on September 1st and will serve on a committee that oversees, among other things, the selection, seeding and bracketing for the annual NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.
Boos served on this same committee from 2006-2012 including serving as National Vice Chair in 2010 and as the National Chair in 2011 and 2012.
"Jim is not only a nationally respected coach, but he is also known for his diligent work on the Division II Volleyball Regional and National Sport Committees," said Senior Associate Athletic Director
Karen Stromme. "His knowledge of the selection criteria combined with his integrity makes this recent appointment great for our University, our conference and for Division II women's volleyball."
Since joining UMD in 2002, Boos has become the winningest coach in Bulldog history. UMD has maintained its status as perennial national title contender under Boos, making 17 trips to the NCAA II National Tournament including 13 visits in a row from 2002 to 2014. Since taking over, the Bulldogs have ranked in every American Volleyball Coaches Association DII poll, a 245 straight poll run, the longest active streak.
