University of Minnesota Duluth alumni forward Keith Christansen was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference's 1960's All-Decade team.
Christansen played with the Bulldogs from 1963-67. During his time with UMD, Christansen racked up quite the resume.
The Fort Francis, Ont. native recieved All-America and All-WCHA honors in 1966-67 and was named the WCHA's Most Valuable Player in 1967 after winning the scoring title with 46 points (15g, 21a) in 23 league games in the Bulldogs second year of WCHA membership. Christansen shares the WCHA record for most assists in a single game with six, coming against the University of Minnesota on Nev. 19, 1966. He's the only player in UMD history to lead the team in scoring all four years of his career. His 1.92 points per game is second in team history and his 196 career points sits ninth.
Christansen was the first Bulldog to have his jersey retired and was inducted into UMD's Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the inaugural class in 1991.
Chrsitansen also was a solid player in international play as well. He was a member of the 1972 Olympic silver-medal winning team in 1972 and was a member of three U.S. national teams (69, 70, 71). He tallied 12 points (7g, 5a) in international play and was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005. He was also named to the WCHA's Top 50 Players in 50 Year's list in 2002.
