Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

OLSON LEADS THE WAY AS UMD SWEEPS MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY

The University of Minnesota Duluth defeated Minot State University 72-57, completing the weekend sweep. The Bulldogs are now 3-0 on the season and have extended their home win streak to 27 games which dates back to 2018. The Beavers fall to 0-4

UMD started this game the way they ended last night's game, hitting shots from everywhere on the floor and playing suffocating defense. They held MSU to only 32.1% shooting from the field and 14.3% on 3-pointers in the first half. UMD was led by the starting front court early on. Junior forward Brooke Olson scored 18 points on 7-11 shooting and senior forward Sarah Grow scored 14 points on 7-8 shooting going into halftime.

UMD led MSU 41-23 at the half.

MSU made a bit of a comeback in the third quarter, pulling the game within 10, but the Bulldogs shut it down and coasted the rest of the way to a 15 point victory.

Overall, UMD shot 49.1% (28-57) on field goals, 43.8% (7-16) on 3-pointers, shot 90% from the line (9-10) and outrebounded MSU 36-26.

Olson finished the game with 27 points, seven rebounds and shot 3-5 on 3-pointers. Grow recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds and senior guard Ann Simonet finished with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals.

UMD will play next weekend (January 15 and 16) in Bismarck, North Dakota against University of Mary.
