Box Score Duluth, Minn. – The Bulldogs hosted the Minnesota State – Mankato Mavericks on Friday night. UMD was able to control much of the match to win convincingly 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-14).
The first set would see both teams battling to start the match. Both teams would start out trading points to a 5-5 lead. The Mavericks would score 3 straight points for a 5-8 lead. The Bulldogs would battle back to tie it up at 9-9. From there, UMD would take control of the set and would jump out to a 17-12 lead. From there, the Bulldogs would maintain control. Despite the Mavericks getting it to a 19-17 deficit, the Bulldogs would be able to close out the Mavericks by scoring 5 straight points to win 25-19.
Minnesota State – Mankato would start the second set by jumping out to a 5-9 lead. The Mavericks would continue to mount their lead to 9-14. The Bulldogs would grind out the set and manage to comeback to force a 19-19 tie. After teams traded points to a 22-22 tie, the Bulldogs would go on to win 3 straight points to win the set 25-22.
UMD would continue their momentum in the third set by jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead. From there, the Bulldogs would continue to control and dominate the set. UMD would jump out to a 15-5 lead. The Bulldogs would not let up there and would continue to dominate the Mavericks. The Bulldogs would win the set 25-14 to win the match 3-0.
UMD would be led by Sophomore
Cianna Selbitschka who had 13 kills. Fifth year
Kate Bergo would add 8 kills. Redshirt Junior
Madison Gordon would add 31 assists on the night. Senior
Sydney Lanoue would add 16 digs for the Bulldogs.
The Mavericks were led by Mariah Edgington who had 8 kills. Dana Schindler added 12 assists while Mara Quam would add 8 digs.
