BULLDOGS DOMINATE IN 3-0 SWEEP

Duluth, Minn. – The UMD Bulldogs hosted the Minot State Beavers tonight at Romano Gymnasium. The Bulldogs were able to use a strong attacking performance (.500 attacking percentage) to propel the Bulldogs to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-4, 25-14) sweep.
 
After a back-and-forth start, the Bulldogs would jump out to a early 12-4 lead in the first set. The Beavers would attempt to come back however, as they would draw the set to a 15-10 UMD advantage. The Bulldogs would regain control however and would go on to score 10 of the next 14 points to close out the Beavers 25-14 to win the first set.
 
The second set would see the Bulldogs control and dominate the set from the beginning. After the Beavers scored to make it a 4-2 Bulldogs advantage, the Bulldogs would go on to score 14 straight points to take a 18-2 lead. From there, the Bulldogs would continue to dominate as they would go on to score 7 of the next 9 points to win the set by an impressive 25-4.
 
The third set would see both teams battle and trade points to an 8-8 tie. From there however, the Bulldogs would be able to take control of the set and jump to a 20-12 lead. The Bulldogs would continue their dominance and would win the set 25-14, to finish the 3-0 sweep.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore Grace Daak who had 11 kills for the Bulldogs and added 9 Blocks (3 solo and 6 assisted). Sophomore Cianna Selbitschka also added 11 kills on the night. Redshirt Junior Madison Gordon added 28 assists on the night for the Bulldogs while senior Sydney Lanoue added 12 digs. Lanoue also added 4 service aces on the night for UMD.
 
The Beavers were led by Alexandra Koontz and Hailey Wathen who had 4 kills each. Sophia Peterson added 9 assists on the night while Koontz and Tea Boeckel added 4 digs a piece.
 
WHO'S NEXT:
The Bulldogs will be back at home tomorrow, October 16th as they will take on the Mary Marauders at 4:00 PM. The game will come during UMD's homecoming and will also be the teams annual Breast Cancer Awareness game.
