BULLDOGS SWEEP THE MARAUDERS TO COMPLETE WEEKEND SWEEP

Duluth, Minn. – The UMD Bulldogs completed the weekend sweep tonight on their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game, as they faced the Mary Marauders. The Bulldogs were in control for the majority of the night as they swept the Marauders 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16).
 
In the first set, UMD was able to jump out to an early 6-0 lead. From there, Mary would climb back into the game to get it to a 9-6 UMD advantage. From there, the Bulldogs would take control as they would go on to score 8 straight points to take a commanding 16-6 lead. From there, teams would go on to trade points, but it would be too late for the Marauders as the Bulldogs would win the first set 25-18.
 
The second set would see teams much more competitive out of the intermission. Teams would battle to a 5-5 tie in the beginning of the set. The Bulldogs would then slowly gain control of the set. They would eventually work up to a 18-12 lead. From there, Mary would try to get back into the game as they got it to a 21-17 UMD advantage, but the Bulldogs would close them out to win the set 25-18.
 
UMD would once again jump out to a early lead as they would take a 9-3 advantage. Mary would manage to battle back but they would not be able to get any closer than within 3 points the entire set. The Bulldogs would once again close out the Marauders as they would score 8 of the last 10 points to win 25-16, and to clinch the 3-0 sweep.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore Cianna Selbitschka who had 14 kills on the night. Freshman Samantha Paulsen added 9 kills for the Bulldogs on the night. Redshirt Junior Madison Gordon added 37 assists on the night while Sydney Lanoue added 19 digs. Selbitschka also added 13 digs for a double-double on the night.
 
Mary was led by Nehkyah Ellis who had 9 kills on the night. Kameron Selvig added 15 assists on the night while Nehkyah Ellis added 11 digs for the Marauders.
 
WHO'S NEXT:
The Bulldogs will be back on the road next weekend as they travel to Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday October 22 at 6:00 PM. They will continue the road trip as they will then face off against Northern State on Saturday October 23 at 4:00 PM. The Bulldogs will be home again on October 26 as they host No. 25 Michigan Tech.
