Moorhead, Minn. – Senior
Sydney Lanoue would break the Bulldog record for most digs in a three-set match with 35 digs on the night. Lanoue would also tie the NCAA Division II mark for the 2021 season for digs in a 3 set match.
The UMD Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons. The Dragons would give the Bulldogs all they could handle but UMD would be able to pull out a 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-16) win.
The first set would see UMD jump out to a early 6-1 lead. From there, the Bulldogs would continue their momentum and would build a 15-5 lead over the Dragons. MSUM would fight back to draw it to a 20-17 deficit, but their comeback attempt would prove to be too late as the Bulldogs would eventually be able to close them out, thanks to a kill from
Cianna Selbitschka, to win the first set 25-19.
The second set would see a much more competitive beginning to the set. The Dragons would jump out to an early 6-8 over the Bulldogs. Both teams would then go on to trade points as UMD would be able to take the lead at 15-14. Teams would once again continue to battle and would tie the set at 19-19. From there, MSUM would battle to a 22-24 lead before UMD would go on to score 4 straight points to comeback and close out the Dragons in the second set 26-24.
The third set would once again be a competitive set. After battling and trading points, the Bulldogs would take a early 9-7 lead. From there, UMD would be able to go on a run to build a 21-14 lead. The Bulldogs would continue to control the set as the Dragons had to answer for UMD as they would close out the set and match thanks to a kill from
Kate Berg to win the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore
Cianna Selbitschka who had 13 kills and freshman
Samantha Paulsen who added 10 kills. Redshirt Junior
Madison Gordon added 31 assists while senior
Sydney Lanoue added a career best 35 digs to lead the Bulldogs. Selbitschka would also add 14 digs on the night for a double-double while fifth year
Kate Berg would also add 10 digs.
The Dragons were led by Amanda Carlson and Bridget Witzmann who had 8 kills each. Kelly Klees would add 19 assists and 12 digs on the night for a double-double.

The Bulldogs will remain on the road as they travel to Northern State tomorrow. The match will start at 4:00 PM.
