BULLDOGS LOOK TO BUILD MOMENTUM AS THEY GO BACK ON THE ROAD

THE OPENING SERVE:

The UMD Bulldogs will be back on the road this weekend as they travel to Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday October 22nd at 6:00 PM. They will then travel to Northern State on Saturday October 23rd at 4:00 PM.

SCOUTING REPORT ON MINNESOTA STATE-MOORHEAD:

The Dragons come into this matchup having won two of their most previous matches against Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. The Dragons other win came against Minot State on September 21st.

Minnesota State-Moorhead is led by Amanda Carlson who is leading the team with 3.63 kills per set. They are also led by Kelle Kles who leads the team with 5.19 assists per set. Head Coach  Bob Jones is in his first season at Minnesota State-Moorhead after serving as the programs top assistant from 2016-2019.

SCOUTING REPORT ON NORTHERN STATE:

Northern State is currently tied for sixth in the NSIC. They come into this matchup having won their previous two matches against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston.

Northern State is led by Sally Gaul who leads the team with 3.60 kills per set. They are also led by Keri Walker who is averaging 11.2 assists per set on the season. Head Coach Brent Aldridge is in his 11th season with the program.

THE SERIES:

UMD currently holds a 63-13 record over Minnesota State-Moorhead. Their most recent meeting occurred on October 12, 2019 where the Bulldogs won the match 3-0.

The Bulldogs come into their matchup against Northern State with a 52-5 record. The most recent matchup saw the Wolves win 3-2 on October 11, 2019.


LEADING THE PACK:

Minnesota Duluth Sophomore Outside Hitter Cianna Selbitschka is currently second in the conference in total kills (293) and second in the conference in kills per set (4.07). Selbitschka is also tied for third in the conference in total service aces (29) and  is fourth in average service aces per set (0.40). Selbitschka also ranks in the top 20 in the conference in digs ranking 12th in the conference in total digs (217) and 18th in digs per set (3.01)

Bulldogs Sophomore Grace Daak currently leads the NSIC with 93 total blocks and is first with 1.29 blocks per set.

Senior Sydney Lanoue is currently third in the conference in total digs (334) and fourth in digs per set (4.64). Lanoue is also ninth in total service aces (24).

Redshirt Junior Madison Gordon currently has the sixth most assists (708) and seventh in assists per set (9.83).

LAST TIME OUT:

The Bulldogs hosted Minot State and Mary this past weekend. The Bulldogs would be able to complete a weekend sweep by defeating both teams 3-0.
 

UP NEXT:

The Bulldogs will be back at home as the host Michigan Tech on Tuesday October 26th and St. Cloud State on Thursday October 28th before finishing the week on the road as they will travel to Bemidji State at 4:00 PM.
