BULLDOGS KEEP WIN STREAK ALIVE AS THEY WIN IN FOUR SETS

Aberdeen, SD – The UMD Bulldogs would cap off their weekend road trip with a match against the Northern State Wolves. After splitting the first two sets, the Bulldogs were able to go on to win two sets in a row to beat Northern State 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-22).

The first set would see the Bulldogs come out firing as they would take a quick 5-0 lead. The Wolves would battle back however as they would be able to claw their way back to a 6-6 tie. From here, teams would battle and trade points to a 12-12 tie. UMD would go on to score 5 straight points to take a commanding 17-12 lead. Northern State would battle back and go on a run of their own to make it a 22-20 UMD lead. It would be too late however as the Bulldogs would be able to close out the Wolves 25-20.

Much like the first set, UMD would jump out to a quick 4-0 lead. From there, the Wolves would battle back to draw a 10-10 tie. Teams would go on to trade points before Northern State would score 8 of 10 points to take a 21-16 lead. From there, the Wolves would maintain control of the set and would win the set 18-25 to tie the match at 1-1.

In the third set, both teams would battle to begin the set. After trading points to begin the set, Northern State would tie it up at 10-10. From there, teams would continue to battle as neither team could pull away. After the Wolves tied it up at 17-17, UMD would go on to score three straight points to give them a 20-17 lead. That run would propel them for the rest of the set as they would win the third set 25-21.

The fourth set would once again turn out to be a battle. Neither team would be able to pull ahead in the beginning of the set as teams would battle to a 9-9 tie. From there, UMD would take control of the set and would go on to score 11 of the next 14 points to take a commanding 20-12 lead.  Northern State would battle back to force a 21-19 score, but it would prove to be too late as Kate Berg would secure the Bulldogs win with a match closing kill to win the set 25-22 and win the match 3-1.
