Aberdeen, SD – The UMD Bulldogs would cap off their weekend road trip with a match against the Northern State Wolves. After splitting the first two sets, the Bulldogs were able to go on to win two sets in a row to beat Northern State 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-22).
The first set would see the Bulldogs come out firing as they would take a quick 5-0 lead. The Wolves would battle back however as they would be able to claw their way back to a 6-6 tie. From here, teams would battle and trade points to a 12-12 tie. UMD would go on to score 5 straight points to take a commanding 17-12 lead. Northern State would battle back and go on a run of their own to make it a 22-20 UMD lead. It would be too late however as the Bulldogs would be able to close out the Wolves 25-20.
Much like the first set, UMD would jump out to a quick 4-0 lead. From there, the Wolves would battle back to draw a 10-10 tie. Teams would go on to trade points before Northern State would score 8 of 10 points to take a 21-16 lead. From there, the Wolves would maintain control of the set and would win the set 18-25 to tie the match at 1-1.
In the third set, both teams would battle to begin the set. After trading points to begin the set, Northern State would tie it up at 10-10. From there, teams would continue to battle as neither team could pull away. After the Wolves tied it up at 17-17, UMD would go on to score three straight points to give them a 20-17 lead. That run would propel them for the rest of the set as they would win the third set 25-21.
The fourth set would once again turn out to be a battle. Neither team would be able to pull ahead in the beginning of the set as teams would battle to a 9-9 tie. From there, UMD would take control of the set and would go on to score 11 of the next 14 points to take a commanding 20-12 lead. Northern State would battle back to force a 21-19 score, but it would prove to be too late as
Kate Berg would secure the Bulldogs win with a match closing kill to win the set 25-22 and win the match 3-1.
UMD was led by sophomore
Cianna Selbitschka who would lead the Bulldogs with 23 kills. Sophomore
Grace Daak and fifth year
Kate Berg would add 14 and 13 kills respectively. Redshirt Junior
Madison Gordon would add 44 assists on the night. Selbitschka, Berg and Gordon would all have double-doubles on the night as they would put up 18, 16, and 14 digs respectively. Senior
Sydney Lanoue came off her record-breaking night with 14 digs of her own.
Northern State was led by Sally Gaul who had 14 kills on the night. Keri Walker would tally 34 assists and 11 digs for the Wolves for a double-double. Taylor Buckley and Havyn Heinz would both also add double digit digs for Northern State.

The Bulldogs will be back at home as they host a pair of mid-week games. The Bulldogs will welcome two top-25 teams as they will host #20 Michigan Tech on Tuesday October 26
th at 6:00 PM. The Bulldogs will then host No. 13 St. Cloud State on Thursday October 28
th at 6:00 PM. The Bulldogs will then finish their week by traveling to face off against Bemidji State on October 30
th at 4:00 PM.
