Fayette, Iowa – The No. 23 UMD Bulldogs traveled to Fayette, Iowa to face off against the Upper Iowa Peacocks. After splitting the first two sets, the Peacocks would take control and win the match 1-3 (23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 18-25).
In the first set, teams would start out in a battle. Teams would trade points to start the set, before Upper Iowa was able to take a 9-13 advantage. From there, they would build it up to a 10-16 advantage, but the Bulldogs would not back down. UMD would battle back to within a point at 20-21. After trading points to a 23-24 Peacock advantage, the Bulldogs would not be able to stay alive as they would lose the first set 23-25.
The second set would start much like the first. Teams would come out and battle and trade points. Neither team would be able to take an early advantage as teams drew to a 13-13 tie. From there, teams would continue to trade points until the Bulldogs were able to take a 20-18 advantage. From there, UMD would be able to close out the Peacocks to win the set 25-21 and draw the match to 1-1.
In the third set, UMD was able to jump out to a quick 8-3 lead. The Peacocks however would go on to score 5 straight points to tie it up at 8-8. From there, teams would continue to battle and trade points, with neither team able to pull ahead. After the Bulldogs took a 17-16 lead, the Peacocks would go on another run and would score 6 straight points. The Bulldogs would try to come back but the Peacocks would close it out to win the set 19-25 to take a 1-2 advantage.
The fourth set would once again see teams battle and trade points early in the match. After the Bulldogs got the score to within a point at 6-7, the Peacocks would go on a run to take a 7-13 advantage. The Bulldogs would battle back to within two points at 12-14, but then Upper Iowa would go on yet another run and take a 12-20 lead. From there, the Bulldogs would attempt to gain some momentum and mount a comeback, but the deficit would be too great as the Peacocks would be able to close them out 18-25.
The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore
Cianna Selbitschka who had 13 kills. Redshirt Junior
Madison Gordon would add 20 assists while Sophomore
Maddi Kealy would add 12 assists of their own. Senior
Sydney Lanoue would add 15 digs on the night as
Cianna Selbitschka would add 14 digs for another double double.
Upper Iowa was led by Emily Kono who had 16 kills on the night. Jaima Tonne and Nicole Pozorski would add 20 and 17 assists respectively on the night. Charisma Herr would add 14 digs for the Peacocks.

The Bulldogs will be back at home next weekend as they look to get back on track. They will host Minot State on Friday October 15
th at 6:00 PM. They will then host Mary on Saturday October 16
th at 4:00 PM. Both games will be a part of UMD's homecoming weekend. Come out and support your Bulldogs!
