BULLDOGS DROP FOUR SET MATCH AGAINST THE VIKINGS

Sioux Falls, SD – The Bulldogs would travel to South Dakota to face off against the Augustana Vikings. After winning the first set, the Bulldogs would drop three straight sets as the Vikings would win the match 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 21-25, 18-25).
 
The first set would see both teams trade points before Augustana would take an early 13-8 lead. From there, the Vikings would continue to build their lead as they would build a 20-15 lead. The Bulldogs would fight back and would score the next 5 of 6 points to make it a 21-20 set. Teams would continue to battle to a 24-24 tie. The Bulldogs would be able to complete the comeback as they would score three straight points and would win the set thanks to a Cianna Selbitschka service ace to win 26-24.
 
In the second set, both teams would come out battling as they would go on to trade points to a 7-7 tie. From there, Augustana would slowly start to take control of the set. They would build a 19-17, where the Bulldogs would have no answer for the Vikings as they would go on to score 6 of 7 points to win the set 25-18.
 
The third set would be much like the second as both teams would come out battling as they would battle to a 9-9 tie. The Bulldogs would score 4 straight points to take a 15-12 lead. UMD would build a 20-16 lead, before the Vikings would take over the set. They would go on to dominate the Bulldogs as they would score 9 of the next 10 points to win the set 25-21 and take a 2-1 match lead.
 
In the pivotal fourth set, Augustana would continue their momentum as they would take an early 12-4 lead. The Vikings would continue to dominate to a 20-10 lead before UMD would score 5 straight points to make it 20-15. The Bulldogs comeback attempt would prove to be too late as the Vikings would go on to close out the Bulldogs 25-18 to win the match 3-1.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Sophomore Grace Daak who had 14 kills on the night. Sophomore Maddi Kealy would add 24 assists on the night while redshirt-junior Madison Gordon would add 21 assists. Senior Sydney Lanoue would lead the Bulldogs defense with 19 digs while Sophomore Cianna Selbitschka and fifth year Kate Berg would add 18 and 13 digs respectively.
 
The Vikings were led by Payton Rosendahl who had 14 kills and Maddy Guetter who had 13 kills. Avery Thorson would add 50 assists on the night while Erika Bute would add 22 digs.

The Bulldogs will finish their regular season with a matchup against Wayne State at 1:00 PM on November 13th.
