SHORTHANDED BULLDOGS HANDLE MINNESOTA CROOKSTON 3-0

Crookston, Minn. – The UMD Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles. After a tight first set, the shorthanded Bulldogs squad would control the match and win 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-16).
 
In the first set UMD would get out to a fast start taking a 9-2 lead. The Golden Eagles would battle back however as they would draw it to within one point. From there, the Bulldogs would take a slight advantage at 23-20. But once again the Golden Eagles would battle back to draw it to a 24-24 tie. After teams traded points, the Bulldogs would close out Minnesota Crookston to win the set 28-26 thanks to two kills from Sydney Lanoue.
 
The beginning of the second set would see a much more competitive start. Both teams would battle and trade points. After another kills from Sydney Lanoue, the Bulldogs would tie the set up at 11-11. Teams would continue to battle as the Bulldogs would be able to draw ahead and take a slight 19-16 advantage. To end the set, UMD would go on to score 6 of the next 8 points to win the set 25-18.
 
In the pivotal third set, the Bulldogs would once again jump out to an early lead taking a 10-4 advantage. From there, the Golden Eagles would once again try to claw back as they would get it to within four points at a 18-14 UMD advantage. The Bulldogs would close the door on the Golden Eagles comeback however as they would go on to score 7 of the last 9 points to win the set 25-16 and win the match 3-0.
 
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Grace Daak who had 15 kills on the night. Senior Sydney Lanoue would also add 10 kills on the night. Redshirt junior Madison Gordon would add 33 assists on the night as sophomore Kaylyn Madison would add 15 digs. Lanoue would also add 11 digs on the night as she would tally her first double-double of the season.
 
Minnesota Crookston was led by Lauren Wallace with 9 kills and Bailey Schaefer who added 8 kills of her own. Natalie Koke would add 23 assists on the night while Schaefer would also add 10 digs.
 
WHO'S NEXT:
The Bulldogs will be back home for their last weekend series as they will host Southwest Minnesota State on Friday November 5th at 6:00 PM. The Bulldogs will then host Sioux Falls on Saturday November 6th at 4:00 PM. The Bulldogs will look to avenge early losses to both teams. Come out and support your Bulldogs.
