BERG, BALLARD LEAD BULLDOGS TO 3-0 WIN ON SENIOR NIGHT

Duluth, Minn. – The UMD Bulldogs would host the Sioux Falls Cougars on Saturday evening. On senior night, seniors Kate Berg and Summer Ballard would lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-19, 25-23).
 
In the first set, the Cougars would jump out to an early 10-5 lead on the road. The Cougars would continue to build their lead as they would extend it to a 17-13 lead. The Bulldogs would battle back and thanks to 5 straight points, the Bulldogs would come back and take a 20-19 lead. From there, teams would battle and trade points before the Bulldogs would close out the Cougars with two straight points thanks to kills from Grace Daak and Kate Berg. The Bulldogs would win the set 25-23.
 
The second set would see the Bulldogs jump out to a 10-7 lead. Teams would battle and trade points until the Bulldogs would go on to score 6 straight points to take a 20-12 lead. Sioux Falls would attempt to come back but it would be too late as the Bulldogs would close out the set and win the set 25-19.
 
The Bulldogs would once again jump out to an early 7-3 lead. UMD would continue to build their lead as they would get to a 15-9 lead. The Cougars would come back to tie it up at 15-15. After teams split points, the Cougars would score 4 straight points to get to an 21-19 lead. After the Cougars would build up to an 23-20 lead, the Bulldogs would score five straight points, including a match winning kill from Kate Berg.
 
The Bulldogs were led by fifth year Kate Berg who had 10 kills on the night. Sophomore Grace Daak would add 9 kills on the night. Redshirt junior would add 21 assists on the night while Sophomore Maddi Kealy would add 16 assists. Berg would also add 10 digs on the night for a double-double in her last career game in Romano Gym.
 
The Cougars were led by Avery Yaksich who had 13 kills and Jordan Kuper who had 11 kills. Krista Goerger would lead Sioux Falls with 32 assists. Tiarose Nagami would add 13 digs while Yaksich would add 11 digs for a double-double on the night.
 
WHO'S NEXT:
The Bulldogs will be back on the road next weekend as they travel to Augustana on Friday November 12 at 6:00 PM. They will then travel to face off against Wayne State on Saturday November 13 at 1:00 PM.
