MEN'S BASKETBALL COMPLETES TOUGH ROAD TRIP WITH WEEKEND SWEEP

Moorhead, Minn. – The No. 12/17 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs offense came out firing in the first half and continued in the second half as they won 92-71. The Bulldogs improved to 13-0 on the season.

After a slow start to the game and trailing 6-5 with 16:44 left in the first half, the Bulldogs offense began to heat up. They quickly jumped out to an 8-point lead as they led 18-10 with 10:26 left in the half. From there, the Bulldogs offense stayed hot, as Drew Blair scored 5 straight points for the Bulldogs to extend the lead to 12 points. The Dragons got the lead down to 7 points before UMD pulled away once again. The Bulldogs went on a 11-2 run to end the half and to take a 48-31 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs shot 18-33 (54.5%) from the field and 5-11 (45.5%) from three-point range in the half. They also shot 7-12 from the foul line. The Bulldogs defense gave the Dragons issues on offense as they shot just 9-29 (31.1%) from the field and 1-8 (12.5%) from three-point range. They also shot 12-12 from the foul line.
 
The Bulldogs picked up where they left off as Jack Middleton started the half with a three-pointer. From there, the Bulldogs slowly began to build their lead as they led by as many as 26 points in the second half. After building up their lead, the Bulldogs and Dragons began to trade points. The Dragons were not to dig into the Bulldogs lead at all as the Bulldogs kept them out of the game in the second half. A dunk from Joshua Brown with 3:42 left in the game looked to be the dagger as the Bulldogs prevailed on the road to win 92-71. The Bulldogs offense stayed hot in the second half as they shot 15-27 (55.6%) from the field and 6-14 (42.9%) from three-point range. They also shot 8-10 from the foul line. The Dragons offense found their rhythm in the second half as they shot 15-28 (53.6%) from the field and 5-12 41.7%) from three-point range. They also shot 5-6 from the foul line.
 
The Bulldogs once again had all 5 starters in double figures, led by Austin Andrews with 19 points on the night. Jack Middleton and Drew Blair also added 17 points on the night. Joshua Strong added 9 points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Andrews led the team with 10 rebounds on the night. Charlie Katona led the team with 6 assists while Andrews added 5 of his own. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 33-60 (55%) from the field and 11-25 (44%) from three-point range. They also shot 15-22 (68.2%) from the foul line.
 
The Dragons were led by Bryce Irsfeld who had 19 points on the night. Dane Zimmer led the team with 6 rebounds on the night. Irsfeld also led the team with 5 assists on the night. Overall, the Dragons shot 24-57 (42.1%) from the field and 6-20 (30%) from three-point range. They also shot 17-18 (94.4%) from the foul line on the night.
 
Who's Next:
The Bulldogs will have two weeks off before their next game when they travel to face off against St. Cloud State on January 2.
