BALANCED ATTACKED PROPELS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO BIG WIN AT HOME

Duluth Minn. – The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs hosted the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs were able to take a controlling lead early in the game and didn't look back as they went on to win 78-46.
 
The first quarter proved to be a battle as teams traded baskets throughout the quarter. Neither team was able to take control of the quarter, as teams battle to a 15-13 Bulldogs lead at the end of the first. The Bulldogs offense would explode as they outscored the Golden Eagles 25-11 in the second quarter. After not playing in the first quarter, Brooke Olson went on to outscore the Golden Eagles as she scored 15 second quarter points on a perfect 6-6 shooting from the field and 3-3 from three-point range as there was no answer for her. The Bulldogs used this offensive explosion to take a 40-24 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs shot 16-28 (57.1%) from the field and 6-11 (54.5%) from three-point range. The Golden Eagles shot 10-23 (43.5%) from the field while only shooting 1-8 (12.5%) from three-point range.
 
The Bulldogs continued their offensive explosion in the third quarter. The Bulldogs went on to score 24 points in the quarter as they got a balanced offensive attack from their whole roster as 7 different players went on to score in the quarter. Thanks to another strong offensive quarter, the Bulldogs managed to put the game out of reach as they took a 64-34 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Bulldogs use their bench to maintain their lead as they went on to win 78-46.
 
The Bulldogs were led by Brooke Olson who had 19 points on a perfect 8-8 shooting including 3-3 from three-point range. Sarah Grow also added 10 points on the night. The Bulldogs had 11 players score on the night, including 8 players who had 6 or more points. Maesyn Thiesen stacked the scoresheet tonight as she led the team with 5 rebounds and 6 assists as she also added 2 steals on the night. Ann Simonet also added 3 steals on the night. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 33-64 (51.6%) on the night and 8-18 (44.4%) from three-point range. They also shot 4-7 (57.1%) from the foul line.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by Abi Fraaza who had 15 points on the night, as Mary Burke also added 10 points on the night. Fraaza also added 8 rebounds on the night while Emma Carpenter added 3 assists. Overall, they shot 16-51 (31.4%) from the field and 2-15 (13.3%) from three-point range. They also shot 12-14 (85.7%) from the foul line.

The Bulldogs will be back at home as they Host Minot State on Friday December 10 at 7:30 pm. They will then host Mary on Saturday December 11 at 5:30 PM.
