The University of Minnesota Duluth completed the weekend sweep against Bemidji State University, 73-62. UMD improves to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. BSU falls to 7-5 overall (6-4 NSIC).
The Bulldogs started the game off much like last night, finding themselves in a tight game early on, ending the first quarter trailing 22-21. The second quarter was a different story however as UMD locked down on defense, allowing the Beavers to score just 10 points on 16.7% (2-12) shooting from the field and 0% (0-3) on 3-pointers in the quarter.
The Bulldogs went into halftime with a 42-32 lead.
Coming out of halftime UMD saw their lead disappear as the Beavers tied the game up midway through the third quarter. That was the closest BSU would get for the rest of the game as the Bulldogs ended the third quarter with an eight-point lead. UMD would only let the Beavers score 10 points again in the fourth quarter, cruising to their 31st straight home game victory.
Overall, UMD shot 49.1% (26-53) from the field, 22.2 (4-18) on 3-pointers, had seven team blocks and grabbed 33 rebounds. The Beavers shot 33.3% (21-63) from the field and 40% (6-15) on 3-pointers.
