The University of Minnesota Duluth men's cross country team opened its 2021 season this evening at the Twin Cities Twilight meet hosted by Bethel University at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine, Minn..
The Bulldogs started the season on a high note, claiming second place with a host of personal best times at the four-mile distance, a rare race for the sport. Matthew Trutna had the best finish for the team tonight, coming in sixth overall with a time of 20:44.3 and setting a PR by nearly a minute.
Five Bulldogs placed in the top 20, including Trutna. Sam Ringger came in ninth, also setting a PR. Four more PRs were broken tonight thanks to Lucas Selman, Braydon Kubat, Jonathan Tostenson, and Cole Fechner. Christian Leonard rounded out the top 20.
Full results for the Bulldog men are listed below. The Bulldogs won't have far to travel for their next meet, heading across the Blatnik Bridge to Superior, Wis., on Thursday, September 9th for the Dan Conway Classic at Nemadji Golf Course.
