VOLLEYBALL CARRIES NO. 11 RANKING TO HAMPTON INN INVITATIONAL

THE OPENING SERVE:
The No. 11 University of Minnesota Duluth will travel to Kenosha, WI for the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Bulldogs will face Lake Superior State and Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday September 10th. The Bulldogs will then face Colorado Christian and Quincy on Saturday September 11th.

SCOUTING REPORT ON  LAKE SUPERIOR STATE:
The Lakers lost all four of their matches at the Keweenaw Classic. The Lakers will now travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin for the Hampton Inn Invitational, where they look to bounce back.
Head Coach Dave Schmidlin is heading into his 5th season with the Lakers. The Lakers are lead by Senior Middle Hitter Camdyn Odykirk. The Senior was responsible for 2.23 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .257 in the Keweenaw Classic.

SCOUTING REPORT ON WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE:
The Rangers also appeared in the Keweenaw Classic. The Rangers compiled a 1-3 record, defeating Minnesota State Mankato. Head Coach Leigh Barea is heading into her 3rd season with the Rangers. The Rangers are lead by Sophomore Jessica Pappas who is averaging 3.6 points per set. The Rangers are also lead by Redshirt Senior Ellie Adams who leads the team in assists with 4.73 assists per set.

SCOUTING REPORT ON COLORADO CHRISTIAN:
The Cougars are coming off of a 2-2 performance at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic at Colorado School of Mines. The Cougars lost to two NSIC schools, Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State. The Cougars are lead by Head Coach Bobby Blanken who is in his 5th season with the team.  The Cougars are lead by Freshman Libby Goodman who is averaging 3.57 kills per set.

SCOUTING REPORT ON QUINCY:
The Hawks are coming off of a 1-3 performance at the Nova Southeastern Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Hawks defeated Stonehill College 3-0. Head Coach Mark Jones is heading into his 3rd season with the Hawks. The Hawks are lead by  Redshirt Junior Mattie Norris, who is averaging 3.38 kills per set.
 

THE SERIES:
UMD has an impressive 23-5 record agaisnt Lake Superior State.  The most recent matchup came just last weekend at the Keweenaw Classic, where the Bulldogs won 3-0.
The Bulldogs have amassed a 15-1 record against the Rangers. The most recent matchup came last weekend at the Keweenaw Classic where the Bulldogs won 3-1
This will be the first time that UMD and Colorado Chrisitan will face off against eachother.
This will be the 2nd time that UMD will face Quincy. The first matchup came back in 1997, where the Bulldogs won.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Bulldogs came away with three wins in the Keweenaw Classic in Houghton, Michigan. Their only loss came agianst Michigan Tech in a 0-3 loss. UMD would go on to beat Lake Superior State and Northern Michigan in straight sets. The Bulldogs would also beat Wisconsin-Parkside 3-1

DIGGING FOR A MILESTONE:
5th Year Kate Berg is 33 digs away from 1,000 for her career. Berg is also already a member of the 1,000 kills club at UMD. Berg would become the 10th member in UMD history of the 1,000 kill - 1,000 dig club.

500 CLUB:
Coming into the season, Head Coach Jim Boos was just 9 wins away from 500 career wins at UMD. After the Keweenaw Classic, Boos is now just 6 wins away from 500. Coach Boos already holds the UMD record for most wins in a career.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs will begin their NSIC conferece season when they host Wayne State College on September 17th at 6:00pm. The Bulldogs will also host Augustana University on September 18th at 2:00pm.
