Sioux Falls, SD – The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs traveled to face off against the Augustana Vikings. In a game that came down to the last few seconds, the Bulldogs defense came up big once again as they went on to win 64-61.

In the first quarter, the Vikings took an early advantage as they led 10-6 after a few quick baskets in the paint. The Bulldogs quickly answered to take an 13-10 lead with 4:28 left in the first quarter. From there, teams traded baskets down the stretch as the Bulldogs managed to pull away for a 18-14 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs were led by
Madelyn Granica in the first quarter as she had 6 points. The Bulldogs shot 8-19 (42.1%) from the field and 1-6 (16.7%) from three-point range in the first quarter. The Vikings shot 7-23 (30.4%) in the first quarter and 0-6 from three-point range.

The second quarter saw both teams battle to begin the quarter as neither team could pull ahead of the other. The Vikings offense began to come alive early in the quarter as they were able to jump out to an 29-22 Vikings lead. The Bulldogs managed to slow the Vikings offense towards the end of the quarter as they were able to work themselves back into the game. Thanks to a
Kaylee Nelson three-pointer with :17 seconds remaining, the Bulldogs were able to trim the lead to two points as the Vikings took a halftime lead 34-32. The Bulldogs shot 6-15 (40%) from the field and continued to struggle from three-point range as they shot 1-8 (12.5%) from three-point range in the quarter. The Vikings shot 9-14 (64.3%) from the field and 0-2 from three-point range.

The second half began with both teams once again battling as the Bulldogs managed to cut into the Augustana lead. After taking a 43-42 lead, the Bulldogs went on an 8-point run to take an 51-42 lead with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter. The Vikings responded with two straight baskets before
Madelyn Granica hit a three-pointer as time expired to give the Bulldogs a 54-46 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs found their stroke in the third quarter as they shot 9-16 (56.3%) from the field and 4-5 (80%) from three-point range. The Vikings once again struggled from the field as they shot 5-13 (38.5%) from the field and hit their first two three-pointers of the night as they shot 2-5 (40%) in the quarter.

To begin the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs managed to extend their lead to 57-48 early in the fourth quarter. Despite the lead, the Vikings managed to cut into the Bulldog lead as they tied the game at 59-59 with 3:09 remaining. After a three-pointer from
Ann Simonet gave the Bulldogs a 62-59 lead, the Vikings answered to trim the Bulldog lead down to 62-61. From there, both defenses stepped up down the stretch. With a chance to take the lead with 11 seconds left, the Vikings missed a three-pointer to take the lead as the Bulldogs defense came up big once again. From there, the Bulldogs managed to sink some free-throws to ice the game and win on the road 64-61. The Bulldogs struggled from the field as they shot just 3-13 (23.1%) from the field and 1-4 from three-point range in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs had a balanced attack on the offensive end as four players were in double digits.
Ann Simonet led the team with 14 points as
Brooke Olson added 13 points of their own.
Sarah Grow and
Madelyn Granica added 11 points each on the night. Olson, Grow, and
Maesyn Thiesen all totaled 6 rebounds on the night as Thiesen also added 6 assists on the night. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 26-63 (41.3%) from the field and 7-23 (30.4%) from three-point range. They also shot 5-9 from the foul line.

The Vikings were led by Aislinn Duffy who had 18 points on the night followed by Vishe' Rabb who had 17 points of her own. Duffy led the team with 11 rebounds for a double-double on the night. Rabb also added 6 assists on the night. Overall, the Vikings shot 27-65 (41.5%) from the field and 3-18 (16.7%) from three-point range on the night.
