Minnesota Duluth got the game started early. James passed the puck off to Loheit who brought the puck around the back of the net, to pass it up to the blue line to
Wyatt Kaiser. Kaiser ripped a shot from the blue line that slipped by Cornell's goalie and put the Bulldogs up 1-0 just 3:36 into the first period. Later in the period UMD had two power play opportunities but couldn't get the puck in the goal. The Bulldogs also successfully killed off a power play late and took another late in the first period to put them a man down going into the second. UMD kept Cornell scoreless to end the period 1-0.
The Bulldogs went into the second period and killed the penalty off that was given in the first period. At 9:01 the Big Red got the puck in the zone and put it in the back of the net to tie it up 1-1. The Bulldogs got their third power play opportunity but could not get a scoring opportunity. As the second period was nearing the end, the Bulldogs took the lead back at 1:13. Dubinsky just barely kept the puck in the zone in the corner and passed it up the side to Loney. Loney found Dubinsky in the slot, where he sent a rocket past Ian Shane and took the lead back 2-1.
As the Bulldogs went into the third period up 2-1, Cornell fought to get it tied back up. At 2:36 the Big Red's found themselves on a two-on-one breakaway. With a cross from the right side, they made a shot from the left side and tied it up 2-2. As the period went on, both teams were battling to take the lead. At 18:19 Olson made a pass across the middle to Biondi. Biondi flicked the puck off to his left where Daschke had a clear shot and secured the win for the Bulldogs 3-2. At the end of the game
Zach Stejskal made 32 saves and the Bulldogs killed off all three penalties.
UP NEXT Minnesota Duluth will be back at AMSOIL tomorrow night for another game against Cornell at 7:07 p.m.
