UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.Â
Duluth, Minn. --Â Duluth, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced the 2021-22 women's basketball All-Conference team and players of the year.Â
Austin Andrews was named the NSIC North Division Player of the Year. Andrews averaged 19.4 points during conference play this season. Andrews led the team with 9.4 rebounds and was second on the team in assists as he averaged 2.8 assists per game in conference play. Andrews totalled 10 double-doubles in conference play this year as well. He also shot 63.6% from the field. Andrews is the reigning NSIC North Freshman of the Year. Andrews was named NSIC North Player of the Week 5 times throughout the season. Along with the NSIC North Division Player of the Year, Andrews was named First Team All-Conference. Andrews finished the season as the 4th leading scorer in the NSIC (18.6 PPG) and 2nd in rebounds per game with 9.4. He was also 2nd in the conference in shooting as he shot 64.1% from the field.Â
Drew Blair was also named NSIC First Team All-Conference. Blair averaged 18.2 points on the season. Blair also averaged 1.2 steals per game. Blair shot 44.2% from the field and 39.2% from three-point range on the season. Blair finished the season as the 7th leading scorer in the NSIC as he averaged 18.2 points. This is Blair's third All-Conference recognition but his first First Team All-Conference selection.Â
