UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.Â
University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey sophomore goaltender
Hailey MacLeod was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Goaltender of the Week Monday after her awe-inspiring performance against then No. 2 Colgate University over the weekend.
The product of Abbotsford, B.C. played more than 124 minutes of shutout hockey against the Raiders, who entered the series with averaging a whopping five goals a game. MacLeod helped UMD earn a 3-0 shutout Friday night, and then a 1-1 tie in her first two career games against a ranked opponent. Over the series, MacLeod made 66 saves on 67 shots and rendered the Raiders NCAA-leading power play useless in three attempts on the weekend. Currently, MacLeod leads the NCAA with a .973 saves percentage and ranks second with a 0.65 GAA.
MacLeod and the Bulldogs will hit the road to face their second No. 2 opponent in as many weeks when they travel to Madison, Wis for a Saturday-Sunday series against the University of Wisconsin this weekend. The puck will drop on UMD's third-straight series against a top-4 foe Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
