Los Angeles Chargers Sign Laing to Practice Squad

Former University of Minnesota Duluth football All-American offensive lineman Brent Laing has been signed by the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League.

A native of Lakeville, Minn., Laing will suit up with the Chargers practice squad effective immediately after he was claimed by the organization Monday. The 6-3, 304 guard is currently a rookie and signed with the New York Jets in late April of this year as an undrafted free agent.

Laing was a two-time American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First Team All-American with the Bulldogs in both 2021 and 2022, and last winter, became the first-ever UMD player to be invited to the NFL Combine, as well as the 2023 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The third Bulldog to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl, Laing, a former UMD captain, was named to the Reese's Senior Bowl watch list and was a Don Hansen Al-American Honorable Mention in 2022.
