The University of Minnesota Duluth men's/women's indoor track & field teams competed on Saturday at multiple meets across two states (not being Minnesota). A select group of Bulldogs continued competition in day two of the South Dakota State Indoor Classic in Brookings, SD -- while others went across the bridge into Superior, WI for the Sam Maday Classic.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE INDOOR CLASSIC
Day two of the South Dakota State Indoor Classic saw multiple personal records and performances for the Bulldogs. UMD's
Cailee Peterson finished first in a competitive field in the women's one mile with a time of 4:46.05. Bulldogs
Maddie Verkerke (5:01.97) and
Franny Seidel (5:07.03) both turned in personal records in the one mile. In the women's 800m,
Haleigh Reindl earned a top 20 finish with a time of 2:18.62. In the men's 800m race,
Jordan Gruenes finished with a time of 1:56.69 and
Mikey Kvaal landed a time of 1:59.10.
SAM MADAY CLASSIC
The Bulldogs turned in a strong day of performances in Superior for the Sam Maday Classic. UMD's
Jordan Grell turned in a second place finish in the women's 60m with a time of 8.08 seconds. The hurdle team of
Samuel Blomberg (men's) (8.70 seconds - personal record) and
Jacqi Rae (women's) (10.01 seconds - personal record) finished in first and third place. In the 200m race,
Ted Rogers crossed the line for second in 23.02 seconds and
Jordan Grell set a personal record and a first place finish (26.64 seconds).
Rachel Boelke paced the Bulldogs in the women's 400m and earned a personal record and a second place finish (58.81 seconds). The distance crew saw a number of top finishes. Led by
Alexandra Bragg in the women's one mile (first place - 5:49.47) and
Zachary Anderson in the men's 3000m (first place - 9:18.29). In the women's 3000m the Bulldogs finished first (
Anna Palodichuk - 10:58.21), second (
Kira Almsberger - 11:00.36), third (
Kathryn Wraspir - 11:09.86), fourth (
Anna Eich - 11:34.44), fifth (
Kaitlin McConkey - 11:57.84), and sixth (
Camilla Millett - 11:58.14). In the field events, UMD saw firsts in the women's high jump (
Cora McCabe - 1.51m), men's high jump (
Jaden Johnson - 1.96m - personal record), women's long jump (
Adalyn Lehman - 4.78m), women's pole vault (
Libby Lommel - 3.11m - personal record), women's shot put (
Adrianne Thompson - 10.79m), and the men's shot put (
Colton Kostynick - 16.20m). The Bulldogs also saw four of the five women in th women's weight throw set personal records.
Jackson Weston also saw his personal record in the shot put from Friday bested with his toss of 15.50m for a third place finish.

The Bulldogs will head down I-35 to the University of Minnesota for the Snowshoe Open on Friday, February 17th. This will be the final tune-up before the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
