The University of Minnesota Duluth men's/women's indoor track & field teams competed on Friday at the Snowshoe Open in Minneapolis, MN hosted by the University of Minnesota. This was the Bulldogs final tune up before the NSIC Indoor Championships next weekend.
SNOWSHOE OPEN RECAP
UMD's lone first place finish on the day was from junior
Alaina Steele in the women's 800m with a time of 2:22.74. In the women's 60m,
Jordan Grell crossed the line in 8.16 seconds for a sixth place finish while
Chloey Evans landed in eighth place in a time of 8.31. Grell and Evans continued to lead the Bulldogs as they landed in seventh (27.02) and ninth (27.05) in the 200m. In the 400m race, UMD's
Ted Rogers ran a 51.43 (sixth place) and
Megan Gilles ran a 59.21 for second place. In the men's 800m race, it was
Jordan Gruenes (fifth - 1:57.62) and
Mikey Kvaal (sixth - 1:57.64) with back-to-back finishes. The Bulldog distance crew ran together as the women saw
Lauryn Renier (fourth - 10:32.80),
Elizabeth VanLoon (sixth - 10:44.87), and
Anna Palodichuk (eighth - 10:47.07) all cross the line in the top ten. The men's team all finished back-to-back-to back with
Zachary Anderson (20th - 9:19.97),
Isaac Martel (21st - 9:25.73), and
Nathaniel Brandt (22nd - 9:34.40).
In the field events, UMD was led once again by freshman
Jaden Johnson in the high jump as he cleared 1.96m. On the women's side,
Adalyn Lehman landed a long jump of 4.87m, while on the men's side it was
Bennett Nelson who finished in seventh with a 6.20m. In the pole vault,
Sabrina Segar (fourth - 3.09m) and
Baden Bastian (third - 3.81m) represented the Bulldogs. In the throws category, the UMD women were led by
Sabrina Segar in the shot put (11.65m) and
Madeline Klun in the weight throw with a toss of 14.07m. The men were represented by
Connor Kostynick in the shot put (tenth - 11.89m).

The Bulldogs will head to Mankato, MN on February 24-25th to compete in the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
