The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team landed at No. 2 in the first ordered NCAA Regional Rankings released on Wednesday. The Bulldogs currently boast both an overall and in-region record of 24-3.
The only team sitting above UMD is Nebraska-Kearney of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The Lopers hold the same exact overall/in-region marks as the Bulldogs.
Two other NSIC programs join UMD on the 10-team list, those being Minnesota State and Augustana. The Bulldogs defeated the then-No. 5 Mavericks 78-75 in the lone matchup between the two squads this season, which took place in Mankato.

Elsewhere in the rankings world, the Bulldogs re-entered the top ten of the WBCA Coaches Poll this week, jumping up two spots to slot in at No. 9 . It's the highest ranking for UMD in this poll since it was No. 7 on March 8, 2021. The squad also bumped up from No. 6 to No. 5 in the newest D2SIDA Media Poll. The Bulldogs were No. 1 in the D2SIDA's last Regional Rankings, having received all six possible first place votes.
UMD's slot in the NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals is set-in-stone, having earned a bye by way of its efforts in winning not only its division but the outright conference championship. For the record, that's the fourth straight time the Bulldogs have won the NSIC North, their third consecutive time earning at least a share of overall NSIC gold. The squad's opponent, then, is currently unknown. The Bulldogs will face the winner of four-seed Concordia-St. Paul and fifth-seed MSU Moorhead, a contest that takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6:00 p.m. Whoever prevails there will face UMD on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 11:00 a.m.
