PETERSON NATIONAL RUNNER-UP & EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS AT NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS

UMD'S CAILEE PETERSON FINISHED SECOND IN THE FINALS IN THE MILE AT THE NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Caliee Peterson finished as national-runner up in the finals of the women's mile at the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Virginia Beach, VA. Peterson crossed the line in second place with a time of 4:51.46.

Peterson becomes the fourth overall All-American for the Bulldogs in the women's mile (indoor) and 31st All-American in UMD women's indoor track and field program history.

Only three other Bulldogs in program history have competed in the mile at the NCAA Division II National Championships -- Emi Trost (three times), Hannah Olson (three times), and Sam Rivard (once). Olson was a two time All-American with her highest finish being seventh in 2014 alongside teammate Sam Rivard who claimed the top overall spot. Trost was a three time All-American in the mile with two second place finishes and a fourth.
