Defensively the Bulldogs came to play today. The Bulldogs didn't allow a single run throughout twelve innings and only allowed seven hits total.
Lauren Dixon and
Mady Stariha notched 19 strikeouts on the day, 15 coming from Dixon alone in game one.
Game one started in favor for the Bulldogs as they were able to get one on the board early in the first inning.
Sidney Zavoral gets the RBI for run number one as
Kiana Bender capitalizes on the fielder's choice.
Thanks to Dixon's season high strikeout numbers from the mound, the Beavers were unable to score. The Beavers were able to put a few baseruners on, but were never able to cross the finish line. The Bulldogs saw their second and final run of game two in the sixth inning.
Elle Potts laid down the sacrifice bunt to score
Kat Burkhardt, winning game one 2-0.
Although game one only saw two Bulldog runs, game two had plenty to go around. Scoring 11 runs, the Bulldogs got to work early as
Corrie Weise notched her third home run of the season which brought the Bulldogs to an early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs kept going and were able to collect three more runs in the first to bring the score to 5-0.
Kiana Bender would make it 6-0 in the third inning when she notched a single RBI scoring Potts.
Julia Gronholz would add her name to the list as well, as she notched an RBI off a double to left field which brought the lead out to seven.
The Bulldogs went on to add four more runs in the fifth inning, bringing their lead out to eleven.
Mady Stariha remained strong as ever on the mound and held Minot state from scoring, giving the Bulldogs the 11-0 win.
