The University of Minnesota Duluth Softball team is set for a double header against the Northern State Wolves in Duluth, MN at Malosky stadium at 12:00 p.m. This is the first pair of games played in Duluth this season for the Bulldogs.
This will be the first time the Bulldogs and Wolves will match up this season. The Bulldogs have walked away with the win for the last four matchups against the Wolves, and have gone 6-0 at home since 2013. The last matchup between the Wolves and Bulldogs heavily favored the Bulldogs, who went on to win 13-4 last April.
The Bulldogs come into the midweek series with a conference record of 5-1 (19-6 overall). They currently sit second in the NSIC conference behind Augustana. With the Bulldogs dominating wins over St. Cloud State, Minot State, and UMary the Bulldogs have extended their win streak to five.
The Wolves head into the doubleheader series without a conference win and an overall record of 6-16. They will look to pick up their first conference win over NSIC opponent Minn. Crookston who they play today.
Lauren Dixon and the pitching crew will pose the biggest threat to the Wolves. Dixon put up career high numbers this past weekend, tallying 45 strikeouts, 15 against the Beavers, and allowed just 10 hits through 22 scoreless innings.
Mady Stariha also notched another impressive win for her 6-2 record and led the Bulldogs to a 11-0 win over the beavers.
Allyssa Williams and
Allison Luoma also had notable performances in the Bulldog wins over UMary.
At the plate, Corrie Weise also had a strong showing this past weekend. She posted a .428 batting average with four runs, four RBIs, two stolen bases, one double, and a homerun. Elle Potts and Sidney Zavoral also continue to be a force at the plate for the Bulldogs.
