The UMD men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the Joe Sweeney Invite on Wednesday (May 3) hosted by the University of St. Thomas. UMD saw numerous first place podium finishes led by Franny Seidel in the 800m with a personal record of 2:12.98. Teammate Haleigh Reindl finished close behind in third with a time of 2:14.26. The UMD women also saw first place finishes in the 100m hurdles from Megan Gilles (15.03) (personal record), Savannah Schley in the 400m (58.52), and the women's 4x100m relay team of Boelke, Fitzgerald, Gilles, Schley (3:53.63).
On the men's side, the Bulldogs field events had a strong showing with the throws team recording a first place finish in the shot put (Jackson Weston - 15.48m) and discus (Colton Kostynick (47.93m). UMD's Jaden Johnson continued to impress in the high jump with a first place finish (1.99m) and personal record.
This was the Bulldogs final tune up before the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 11-13 in St. Paul, Minn.
