Two current University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey players -- sophomore defenseman
Tova Henderson and freshman goaltender Ève Gascon -- have been invited to Canada's National Women's Development Team training camp, set to take place August 9-13 in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The two Bulldogs will join three former UMD alums who are currently on staff for Team Canada -- Haley Irwin, an assistant coach on the U-18 side, and Noémie Marin, who will serve as an assistant coach, along with Emmanuelle Blais, as the Strength and Conditioning Coach, for the National Women's Development Team camp.
Henderson is coming off her first collegiate season with the Bulldogs. The Richmond, B.C. native played in 38 of 39 possible games for UMD and posted a goal and six assists for seven points. Gascon, one of only two women ever to win a CHL game and one of four to ever play in the league, will make her debut in a Bulldog sweater this fall as a member of the 2023-24 squad.
Henderson and Gascon -- two of 23 players named to the camp, will also take to the ice in three-game series against the United States on Aug. 14-20. Henderson is one of 12 players that won gold at either the U18 Women's World in 2022 or 2023 with Canada.
