The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team returned to a rainy Malosky Stadium this afternoon to face off against Wayne State College.

Today's game ended in the second 0-0 tie in a row for the Bulldogs, marking the first back to back 0-0 games in program history. Additionally, this season is the first for UMD since 2003 with more than one 0-0 result.

The Bulldogs dominated offensive chances, despite the lack of scoring. Freshman Jessica Eischens took charge of the early offensive rushes, tallying both of UMD's shots on goal fifteen minutes in the game.

The Bulldogs continued to outshoot the Wildcats and create more opportunities. UMD looked to convert on net-front chaos following a corner kick mid-way through the half. Both shots on net, from Victoria Thorson and Anna Tobias, were unsuccessful.

Tobias led the team with four shots of the Bulldogs' 12 shots at half time. UMD had four times the shots on goal, but the score remained 0-0.

WSC picked up their play in the second half, despite still being significantly outshot. An early breakaway in the second half by the Wildcats was negated by a sliding block from Rachel Boelke.

A cross-net pass that went behind UMD's goalkeeper created another opportunity for WSC, but they were unable to get to the ball in time.

The Bulldogs were awarded a free kick with fifteen minutes to go, but Lauren Hansen shot high.

Time was ticking and the pressure to score was building for both teams. Eischens led all players with seven shots, three on goal, but was unable to break through.

The Bulldogs play again at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 at Concordia St. Paul.
