The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team closed out their weekend road trip to North Dakota this afternoon in Bismarck, falling to the University of Mary Marauders 3-2 despite a late offensive resurgence in the second half of this Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) matchup.
First Half: UMD (0) - MARY (2)
UMD struggled to open today's matchup as the Marauders collected goals in the 18th and 36th minutes. While the Bulldogs were able to minimize their foul troubles compared to previous contests, they were not able to record any shots and only one corner kick throughout the opening 45 minutes.
Final Score: UMD (2) - MARY (3)
The Bulldogs were able to pick up the momentum and find themselves in the right places at the right time throughout the second half to close the gap. In the 59th minute, a corner kick from Kailey Tomzak found its way to Morgan Eckerle who would pass it over to Anna Tobias for the header goal in front of the net. In the 86th minute, Miriam Marsan would be able to intercept a goal kick from the MARY goalkeeper and send it into the back of the net over her head from around forty yards out. The clock however would cut the Bulldog comeback short as the Marauders would hold possession until time expired.
