The University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Northfield, Minn. on Saturday to compete in the Carleton Running of the Cows for the first time in either program's history. The women's event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m, while the men's is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The men's and women's teams participated in the 38th Roy Griak Invitational on Friday, September 20, 2024. The men finished 10th as a team with fifth-year senior Jack Van Kempen placing highest of the Bulldogs in ninth place with a time of 25:24:0. Fifth-year senior Owen Dickenson finished next among the UMD men in 24th (26:45:0).
On the women's side, UMD finished sixth overall. Fifth-year senior Franny Seidel finished atop the Bulldogs with a 21st place finish overall (23:41:6), while senior Savannah Schley placed 37th with a time of 24:16:1.
BULLDOGS TO WATCH: Fifth-year senior Van Kempen has finished in the top-10 in both previous meets so far this year, including a first place finish in the UWRF River Town Invitational on September 7, 2024 in River Falls, Wis.
Fifth-year senior Seidel looks to continue to lead the women's squad with her team-best fourth place finish in River Falls, as well as her 21st place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational.
