The University of Minnesota Duluth cross country programs made a stop in Northfield, Minn. this morning, taking home a second place finish in the Women's 6k and a sixth place finish in the Men's 8k at Carleton's Running of the Cows meet.
The women's team 2nd in today's race with a total of 74 points, edging out a win over third place finisher Minnesota State Mankato and ending as the top Division II program in the competition. The men's team finished in 6th place with a total of 180 points.
Fifth year senior Maddie Verkerke led the pack for the Bulldogs this morning, finishing seventh overall with a time of 22:36.4. Close by to round out the UMD women's top five were Franny Seidel (8th - 22:36.6), Elizabeth VanLoon (15th - 22:59.2), Ellie Hanowski (21st - 23:17.9), and Savannah Schley (23rd - 23:19.5).
Fifth year senior Owen Dickenson led the men's team, finishing ninth overall with a time of 25.25.0. Following close behind to round out their top five was Jack Van Kempen (14th - 25:34.5), Noah Foster (47th - 26:31.2), Alex Heidorn (51st - 26:41.2), and Nolan Bakken (59th - 26:57.8).
Bulldog cross country heads to Illinois next weekend to take on the Lewis Crossover in their final meet before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championships.
