The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team set out for their first road trip of the 2024 season this weekend, falling to the Northern State University Wolves 2-0 in their first matchup against a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opponent of the year.
First Half: UMD (0) - NSU (1)
UMD would start off this game on the attack, out shooting the Wolves six to four and putting more shots on goal with three compared to two through the first half. However, an early goal by NSU at the 12:42 mark would have the Bulldogs playing with the pressure of a deficit for much of the game. Despite the aggression in the offensive zone, the UMD would be unable to crack the NSU goalkeeper and head into the halftime break behind by one goal.
Final Score: UMD (0) - NSU (2)
In an effort to break the tie, the aggressive playstyle of the Bulldogs would turn more physical as the UMD would rack up 10 fouls through the second half. UMD would continue to put the pressure on the NSU goalkeeper, tallying another six shots and three shots on goal, but another NSU goal at the 66:30 mark would prove to be too much of a mountain to overcome before the end of the match.
Top Performers
Senior forward Anna Tobias tops the stat charts tonight, collecting three shots and two shots on goal in 71 minutes played. Sophomore forward/midfielder Jessica Eischens also excelled, tallying two shots and one shot on goal while playing all 90 minutes of today's matchup.

Bulldog soccer returns home next Friday to take on the reigning NSIC regular season champions, the St. Cloud State University Huskies, before heading back out on the road to face the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles. The Bulldogs are set to kick off from Malosky Stadium on Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:00 PM.
