The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer collected their first win of the 2024 season on the road this afternoon, defeating the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 1-0 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) matchup.
First Half: UMD (1) - UMC (0)
The Bulldogs continued to establish offensive pressure early into today's game, with many bodies on both teams crashing at the UMC net turning into a rebound opportunity for sophomore Jessica Eischens to tally her first goal of the season. UMD would not allow the Golden Eagles another shot for the rest of the first half and would get their first halftime intermission with a lead this season.
Final Score: UMD (1) - UMD (0)
The Golden Eagles would do everything they could to try and get back into the game in the second half, tallying eight of their 11 shots of the day in the final 45 minutes. However, goalkeeper Kaycee Chavez and the rest of the UMD defense would take their chance to perform for the team by saving all five shots on goal faced and blanking the UMC offense to secure their first overall win and conference win of the 2024 season.
