The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team closed out their weekend with a matchup on the road in Sioux Falls, SD, falling in a hard fought 2-0 face-off against the Augustana University Vikings.
Â
First Half: UMD (0) - AU (1)
Â
The Bulldogs started at an early deficit after a foul in the 19th minute set up AU for a successful penalty kick goal, putting them up 1-0. A late shot on goal from Anna Tobias would be the only offensive momentum that UMD would be able to produce in the first half, however the shot was saved by the Vikings' goalkeeper and kept the Bulldogs at a one goal deficit going into the halftime intermission.
Â
Final Score: UMD (0) - AU (2)
Â
The UMD offense was able to push the attack much more efficiently in the final 45 minutes of today's matchup, collecting all six of their corner kicks in the second half and tripling their total shots. This momentum would be stifled however in the final minutes when multiple yellow cards would be assessed to the side of UMD, allowing the Vikings to score yet again the 89th minute of the game and securing the loss for the Bulldogs.Â
