Elizabeth VanLoon needs a bigger trophy case. A much bigger trophy case.
The University of Minnesota Duluth women's cross country senior runner repeated as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Elite 18 Award winner for women's cross country after she held the highest grade point average with the most credits earned among the 16 women's cross country schools competing at the NSIC Cross Country Championships. The native of New Brighton, Minn. was also voted by the league coaches as the winner of the NSIC Women's Cross Country Outstanding Senior of the Year Award at the ceremony, the first Bulldog woman to land the award after Jack Van Kempen earned it last year.
VanLoon holds a 4.00 grade point average while majoring in cell and molecular biology, and was presented both awards following the NSIC Cross Country Championships, which took place on Friday, October 24 in Wayne, Nebraska and hosted by Wayne State College. She is now a three-time NSIC Elite 18 Award winner after she additionally earned the honor at the 2023-24 NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
On Friday prior to the award ceremony, VanLoon ran to a 45th overall finish and time of 23:53.0 for UMD, who finished third in the NSIC Cross Country Championship as a team.
