Women's Track and Field Savannah Schley

Dickenson and Schley Land Second Place Finishes, School Records Fall in Day Two of NSIC Championships

The University of Minnesota Duluth indoor track and field teams finished with more records, plenty of podium finishes, and a couple all-conference performances to cap off their NSIC Conference Championship weekend in Mankato, Minn.

 

Saturday's all-conference performances came from fifth year Owen Dickenson and senior Savannah Schley. Dickenson's time of 8:37.49 earned him second place in the men's 3000m race, and Schley also ran to a runner-up finish in the women's 800m with a time of 2:11.54.  

 

The Bulldogs saw several podium finishes across all event groups. 

 

Junior Will Heydt took fifth with a PR leap of 14.76m in the men's triple jump. On the track, Dickenson also claimed fifth in the men's mile with a time of 4:14.61. 

 

The 4x400m relay team of Megan Gilles, Avary Fitzpatrick, Savannah Schley, and Kate Fitzgerald also snagged a fifth place finish and a school record in the event with a time of 3:55.06. The men's 4x400m relay squad consisting of  Brady Johnson, Billy Auvin, Austin Kehr, and Brock Unger went on to take sixth in the event with another school record breaking time of 3:20.16. 

 

On the track individually, sophomore Rachel Ulrich took sixth both in the women's mile (5:03.76), and in the women's 800m (2:15.96). 

 

In the women's triple jump, sophomore NSIC Athlete to Watch Erin Steinman took sixth with a provisional qualifying mark of 11.81m. Freshman teammate Allysah Larson also snagged a seventh with a jump of 11.64m in the event. 

 

Other seventh place podium finishers include Mikey Kvaal in the men's 800m (1:59.09), and fifth year Jack Van Kempen in the men's 3000m (8:42.98). 

 

Freshman Austin Kehr took eighth in the men's 600m with a time of 1:26.62, and freshman Claire Becker also ran herself to an eighth place finish in the women's 1000m (3:05.94). 

 

The women's team finished in seventh place as a team, and the men ended in eighth.
