University of Minnesota Duluth freshman forward
Max Plante was named to the 2024-25 National College Hockey Conference All-Rookie Team Tuesday, the second Bulldog player to land the honor in three seasons.
The Hermantown, Minn. native led all NCHC rookies with 21 points in conference play, despite only playing 20 NCHC games, while his 1.05 points per game was eighth among all skaters in NCHC action. The Detroit Red Wings draft pick buried seven goals and added 14 assists in conference play, with his 14 helpers tied for second among all freshmen. In all games, Plante has 23 points (7g, 6a) in 21 games after missing most of non-conference play with an injury. He was twice named Rookie of the Week this season.
Plante follows
Ben Steeves as the last freshman to make the team. Steeves earned the nod in 2022-23. All-time, UMD now has had eight NCHC All-Rookie Team selections. Prior to joining the NCHC, the Bulldog program had 12 selections to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's All-Rookie Team.
