Gascon Named Finalist for HCA National Goalie of the Year

Two days after being named a finalist for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Goaltender of the Year, University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey goaltender Eve Gascon has been named a top-3 finalist for the HCA National Goalie of the Year.

Gascon, now a two-time HCA semifinalist for the award, makes the jump to finalist after an outstanding sophomore campaign.  Currently averaging 30.5 saves a game this season, Gascon has 12 times made 32 or more saves in a game, and has had six games of 40 or more stops. The native of Mascouche, Quebec was the HCA Goaltender of the Month for December, and twice the WCHA's Goaltender of Month (December and September), as well as a three-time WCHA Goaltender of the Week. Gascon currently has a .943 saves percentage, and her 826 saves so far this season currently ranks as the 10th most saves in a single season in program history.

Gascon's finalist honor marks the second time in three seasons UMD has had a goaltender in the top-3 -- Emma Soderberg was a top-3 finalist in 2022-23.
