Â
Game One: UMD (6) - BSU (9)
Â
The Beavers were first to break open the scoring this afternoon, driving one run across on a double play ball with runner on third to take an early 1-0 lead in the first.
Â
The Bulldogs returned the favor in the bottom of the second, scoring two on a bases loaded RBI base hit from Joey Flom and taking over the lead 2-1.
Â

Â
The tied score held up until the fourth inning when the Beavers added four runs on a trio of RBI base hits, taking back the lead at 6-2.
Â
Another bases loaded situation in the bottom of the fourth set Sam Kliber up to help the Bulldogs respond, driving a run across on a grounder back to the first baseman. Gabe Richardson knocked in an RBI of his own on the next at bat, scoring Nick Thompson from third on a single through the left side of the infield.
Â
Three runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout and RBI double increased the deficit for the Bulldogs, increasing the BSU lead to 9-4.
Â
UMD added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh onto their effort with Kliber scoring on a wild pitch and Troy Lynch knocking an RBI double out to the left field grass, but the runs proved to be too little too late as the Bulldogs fell 9-6 in game one.

Â
UMD continued their success in bases loaded situations, scoring three on a juiced triple from Kliber in the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs would add one more on a sacrifice fly from Richardson before the end of the inning, bringing the scoreline to 12-1.
Â
A pair of runs in the top of the seventh and the eighth for the Beavers prolonged the game until the Bulldogs had their chance to bat in the bottom of eighth.
