Simon Shines in Tiebreak with Bulldog Tennis Falling to Huskies

The University of Minnesota Duluth suffered a 6-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference defeat to St. Cloud State University Saturday afternoon at the STA-Fit in Sartell, Minn.  

Freshman Isabelle Simon picked up the lone point for the Bulldogs winning her No. 4 singles match. Simon handed Paz Aoki a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 tiebreak victory for her fourth singles win of the season tying her for the team lead with senior Olivia Honsey and junior Carly Chaney. Simon is no slouch in tiebreaker scenarios as she has won all three tie-breakers she has faced this season. 

Her four wins this season is the most by a freshman since her fellow teammate Chaney racked up an impressive 11 wins back in 2023. Simon also joins freshman Olivia Gorton as the other Bulldog this spring to have a pair of conference wins.

The Bulldogs (4-10, 0-7 NSIC ) have two more NSIC contests to close out the 2025 campaign with the University of Sioux Falls and Augustana University next Saturday and Sunday.
