Bulldog Bats Come Alive in Game Two Shutout, UMD Baseball Splits Series Opening Doubleheader with Marauders

The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team opened up their final three games of the 2025 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) regular season with a doubleheader against the University of Mary Marauders, tallying three home runs for a 12-0 victory in game two and a doubleheader split.

Game One: UMD (0) - UM (4)

Both the Bulldogs and Marauders went scoreless throughout the first six innings of the pitchers battle that characterized the opening game. Brayden Buttweiler held the Marauders to just three hits while tallying eight strikeouts for himself heading into the bottom of the seventh.

With bases loaded in the bottom of the final inning, the Marauders handed UMD the loss in game one with a walk off grand slam to straight away center field from Isaac Pegors.

Game Two: UMD (12) - UM (0)

The Bulldogs got their bats going early in game two of the day, tallying the first three runs of the game on a pair of RBI base hits from Henry Bushey and Sam Kliber.

The momentum continued into the top of the third, where Joey Flom, Troy Lynch, and Gabe Richardson each knocked a solo home run to quickly put the Bulldogs ahead 6-0.

Flom tallied another two RBIs for himself in the very next inning, poking a base hit out to the right field grass and scoring runners from second and third. Lynch would later drive in Lynch on a base hit, tallying another RBI of his own before the end of the inning.

The top of the sixth saw another three runs for the Bulldogs, scoring runs on another RBI single from Flom, an RBI grounder from Rosenberg, and a bases loaded hit by pitch. UMD held UMary scoreless throughout the final inning and a half to end the game early and secure the 12-0 shutout win.

Looking Ahead

Bulldog baseball (24-25, 20-19 NSIC) will play their final game of the regular season tomorrow with a nine inning contest against the University of Mary. First pitch against the Marauders is currently set for 12:00 PM.
