Three Named to McKendree Invitational All-Tournament Team

Three University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball players were named to the 2025 McKendree Invitational All-Tournament Team, as voted by tournament head coaches. Senior middle blocker Kylie Broten, junior right side hitter Madeline Guetzkow and sophomore setter Ava Jones all earned a spot on the team, with Broten garnering Most Valuable Player accolades. The Bulldogs went 4-0 at the event, posting wins over Southwest Oklahoma State University, McKendree, Purdue Northwest and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
 
Broten hit .573 with a team-best 46 kills and 13 total blocks over the four-game span. She had only three attack errors in 75 attempts and averaged team-highs with 3.29 kills and 0.93 blocks per set. The senior hit .632 with a team-best 13 kills and six blocks vs. SWOSU, and hit .533 with nine kills in the nightcap at McKendree. She only got better on Day Two, hitting .409 with 10 kills and four blocks against PNW and .737 (14-0-19) with a match-best 14 kills and two blocks in the Bulldogs' final match against UMSL.
 
Guetzkow totaled 43 kills, 48 digs, 12 total blocks and seven service aces through 14 sets of work. She tallied two double-doubles, the first with 12 kills, 12 digs and five total blocks in the season-opener, and the second with career-highs of 15 kills and 19 digs against Purdue Northwest. She led the Bulldogs with nine digs and added five kills, three aces and a block against the hosts, and hit .348 with 11 kills, eight digs, three blocks and two service aces vs. UMSL.
 
Jones helped the Bulldogs hit .322 as a team as she distributed 180 assists during the tournament. She led the squad with nine service aces and added 23 digs, seven kills and four blocks. In the opener against SWOSU, she dished out a career-high 50 assists, while also contributing six digs, four aces, two kills and two blocks, and followed with 41 assists, three kills and three digs vs. McKendree. She had 49 assists, one short of her career-high, to go along with nine digs, two blocks, two service aces and a kill in the win over PNW, and capped off her weekend with 40 assists, five digs and two service aces vs. Missouri-St. Louis.
 
The Bulldogs are set to play at home for the first time in 2025 when they host the Up North Preseason Tournament Sept. 11-13 at Romano Gymnasium. They will play Michigan Tech Thursday at 6 p.m., Adelphi Friday at 6 p.m. and Northern Michigan Saturday at 12 p.m. The matches against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan will be broadcast on My9 Sports.
